
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her first big break came with Tina's role in Do the Right Thing (1989), followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Her performance as Tina in Fearless (1993) has earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her leading film roles have since included It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) as well as Birds of Prey (2020).Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her performance in the film The Flight Attendant (2020-present). She has appeared in Broadway stage plays such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She also co-hosted on the ABC talk show The View during the series in the 18th season. She attended Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. In 1999 her mother lived in poverty in the Woodside Houses, when she passed away from AIDS-related complications.
