Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's existence is a combination of football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. The first is his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on an Eufala farm. He was also one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. A third scholarship saw him named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduating Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times, he was named an All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's top 10 young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the group. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
